So, what makes Classicflix.com the better choice over Netflix? Would one have to only be interested in renting classics?
You mean the stamps alone don't sell it for you? ;-)
I'll let them tell you with this bit from their website:
"Why ClassicFlix?
* CLASSIC DEVOTION - We are exclusively devoted to classic films & T.V. shows (pre-1970).
* WE SAVE YOU TIME - Our focus on the classics saves our customers time because they don't have to wade through thousands of titles before finding what they like.
* EXCLUSIVE TITLES - We carry many films and T.V. shows that N***x, B****buster and local video stores do not.
* PERSONAL SERVICE - Because we are a small "mom and pop", we respond promptly and courteously to your needs.
* WE ARE A REFUGE - If you don't like a lot of the garbage that passes for modern-day filmmaking, then this is the place!"
Sounded pretty good to me. I don't know that it's a better choice than Netflix, I think it just depends on what you are looking for. I tend to prefer classics in general, and was hoping to find some more obscure titles that might not be available on Netflix. It's possible there's room for using both. Or maybe I can be converted to Netflix instead. I just like the idea of supporting a small company that loves classic movies.
Even if you don't want to rent from them, you can buy old movies there too, and their prices seem pretty good to me.
I'm still thinking about this...
You got me looking at Netflix again (which I haven't for a while) and they actually have a good selection of classic movies. And one cool thing that Netflix has going for it is the Watch Instantly Option.
I think it's quite possible that once I'm through the ClassicFlix movies I can't find anywhere else, I will switch over to Netflix. (Renting a non-classic occasionally will also make my husband happy.)
But I still like ClassicFlix for its concept and will use it for browsing and buying. And if someone only wants to rent classics, I'd say it's a good way to go.
I've grown unhealthily addicted to the Netflix instant watch feature.
Oh my goodness, that is awesome! Movie Star stamps. I'm jealous.
I didn't realize this at first, but Bette Davis is missing something in this stamp. http://blogs.suntimes.com/ebert/2008/10/thank_you_for_smoking.html
