(No, not the Richard Gere movie.)
Vital Stats:
Year: 1937
Director: Mark Sandrich
Stars: Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Edward Everett Horton
Choreographer: Hermes Pan, Harry Losee
Music & Lyrics: George & Ira Gershwin
Summary:
Does it really matter? It's an Astaire/Rogers movie! If you must know, the plot revolves around two dancers and the problems that arise from the rumor that they are married.
Memorable Moments:
Fred singing "They Can't Take That Away From Me", the roller-skating dance in the park to "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off", and the dance with all the girls masked to look like Ginger.
What I love about it:
I have a soft spot for Gershwin music and especially like the "impromptu" dance the fabulous pair do to "They All Laughed". (I also think the little dog in the movie is pretty cute.)

I can't believe I haven't seen this movie yet!
I've been working through a whole bunch of Fred & Ginger movies and saw this one earlier in the month. I kinda wished they liked each other for more of the film.
But, the dancing is spectacular. The dance studio number is great as is the rollerstaking number. the masks really freaked me out though.
For future reference, here's my ranking for the Astaire/Rogers films (greatest to least):
Swing Time
The Barkleys of Broadway
Shall We Dance
Carefree
Follow the Fleet
The Gay Divorcee
Top Hat
Roberta
The Story of Vernon & Irene Castle
Flying Down to Rio
I suppose I'll offend some people putting Top Hat so far down the list, but I can't help it.
Never seen it. Sounds like that's something I need to remedy! Especially since I know both of the songs you referenced.
Oh, and I think its funny cuz in that picture, she looks like someone I know. (Who happens to make sock monkeys. I don't know if she rollerskates, though.)
- Cesia.
